Producer refutes Teoh’s allegations

KUALA LUMPUR: The owner of all intellectual property rights in relation to the Kings of Tennis brand and event format has strongly and categorically refuted all allegations made by event organiser Arianna Teoh last week.

“We are clearly neither responsible for the cancellation of the event nor any local costs incurred, which we will prove in the appropriate legal forum if necessary,” Show Administration Europe AB said in a statement yesterday.

It said it had done all it could under the circumstances.

“Show Administration as well as the players are both extremely saddened and disappointed that the event did not take place,” it said.

It was reported on Sunday that Teoh denied allegations that the event was cancelled because of her failure to remit funds to the Swedish-based producer.

Teoh claimed in a statement that she was hired by the producer Show Administration as a vice-president for the event and had agreed to organise and manage the event in Malaysia.

She had said that budgeting, revenue and invoicing were obligations to be undertaken by Show Administration, which was obligated to set up a Malaysian company controlled by them and be named Kings of Tennis Malaysia.

She said the producer failed to set up the company and what was set up was a company intended by the producer to be the vehicle for funds collection.
